I called someone from the Diamond Sofa manufacturer named Mark Chapman and asked if the top of this table was durable because I was concerned about scratching. He assured me that he has been using the same table for several years in his kitchen and despite his large family with several children, he's never had even one scratch on it.

I received the table and had a quick meal on it that evening with one other person and we used 2 simple white porcelain dishes. After cleaning up, I discovered two very noticeable scratches where the two plates had been.

My intention was to find out if there was any remedy for this since I really liked the table and wanted to keep it so I called Mark Chapman once again and told him what had happened. His response was bizarre: he was rude, defensive, and completely indifferent.

I was just asking him if there might be some scratch filler or paint they'd recommend or even sell me directly that could help fill in the scratches, and Mr. Chapman went haywire over the phone instead of simply offering some common sense courtesy to a customer with a valid question.

So while I think the table is ok, I am returning it for a more durable piece made by a manufacturer that cares about their customers and doesn't treat them in such a hostile manner. I'll never buy another piece of furniture made by Diamond Sofa.
